EAST LANSING – Michigan State senior punter Mike Sadler won the Scholar-Athlete Award at the Spartan Academic Excellence Gala on Monday.
Sadler joined 22 other MSU athletes who took home the award and was the only football player to receive the honor.
He has a career average of 42.4 yards per punt, the sixth best average in MSU history.
The two-time All-Big Ten First Team selection carries a 3.97 grade-point average and is currently pursuing his doctorate in economics. He’s the only Spartan to earn Academic All-America honors three times.
He is from Grand Rapids, Mich. where he attended Forest Hills Northern high school.
