Siena Heights Football: Saints travel to Italy to play exhibition game

ADRIAN – The Siena Heights football team will travel to Italy to play an exhibition game against the Italian Senior National Team at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Former Texas Longhorns and Kansas City Chiefs head coach John Mackovic is the coach of the Italian team.

While abroad, the Saints will visit Rome, Siena and Florence, experience new cultures, and do so alongside the SHU women’s soccer team.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to travel to Italy and visit the town of Siena – home of our patron saint, Saint Catherine of Siena – and we look forward to playing a game against a group of Italian all-stars,” SHU coach Jim Lyall said in a release. “This will provide our students with a great opportunity, both educationally and athletically.”

The soccer team will face a local Division I Firenze team on Wednesday and take part in a doubleheader on Sunday.
