Ball State adds Notre Dame transfer

Former Notre Dame lineman Bruce Heggie is officially a Cardinal.

Ball State made it official Wednesday when it announced it had added Heggie, a 2013 graduate of Notre Dame who has one year of eligibility left.

Heggie played four games for the Fighting Irish last season. He prepped at Mount Dora High in Mount Dora, Florida.

Ball State also announced the addition of transfer Julian Jackson, a former defensive tackle for El Camino College.

“We are pleased to welcome Bruce and Julian to the Ball State football family,” Ball State coach Pete Lembo said. “It has been a real pleasure getting to know both young men and their families over the last several months.”

Lembo didn’t promise either player a starting position at their respective positions this fall but did say they’ll improve the competition in fall camp.

Notre Dame kicks off the 2014 season by hosting Rice at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Notre Dame Stadium (NBC).
