The Biletnikoff Award, sponsored by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club, selected three college football players from Michigan to its preseason watch list Tuesday.

Central Michigan senior wide receiver Titus Davis, Michigan tight end Devin Funchess and Western Michigan sophomore wide receiver Corey Davis each made the watch list.

A selection committee of 221 college football journalists, commentators and former receivers presents the Biletnikoff Award to the most oustanding receiver, regardless of position, each year.

“Give the significant number of excellent college receivers playing this season,” TQC chairman Charles Hopkins said, “the race for the 2014 Biletnikoff Award will be the most entertaining and wide open in years.”

The foundation will announce 10 award semifinalists Nov. 17, while it will announce three finalists Nov. 24. The winner will receive the award live on the Home Depot College Football Awards Show at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 (ESPN).

“The 2014 Biletnikoff Award Preaseason Watch List contains an extremely talented field, consistent with the escalating importance of the passing game in college football,” TQC co-chairman Walter Manley added.

Titus Davis (Wheaton, Illinois/Wheaton-Warrenville South) made the 2013 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List last season, while the Chippewas gave him the 2013 Herb Deromedi Most Valuable Player Award for catching 61 receptions for 1,109 yards and eight touchdowns.

Funchess (Farmington Hills/Harrison) is a dynamic threat as a pass catcher who recorded 49 receptions for 748 yards and six touchdowns last season. He finished last year as a semifinalist for the 2013 John Mackey Award, given annually to the most oustanding tight end in the country.

Corey Davis (Wheaton, Illinois/Wheaton-Warrenville South) was added to the 2013 Biletnikoff Award Watch List in the middle of last season. He finished last season with 67 receptions for 941 yards and six touchdowns, earning him Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year and Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America honors.
